Description: This is a 1985 Max IV Argo 6X6 amphibious vehicle. I have owned this vehice for the last 4 years. It is currently registered and titled under my wifes name. I have the current until 2011 watercraft stickers for it. It carries a clean Michigan watercraft title on it. Originally this vehicle was equipped with a two stroke smaller engine. The guy I purchased the unit from put a brand new 18HP Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Twin cylinder engine on it. This was a brand new engine again approximately 5 years ago. He also at the time replaced all the drive chains with brand new ones. This unit is equipped with front and rear seats, seat belts front and rear, windshield, roll bar, front plate for an electric winch. It has a rear bracket for a trailer ball to be mounted on it. It is electric start, and does have lights for night use. The tires are like new, I have a spare rim with a like new tire but the bead on the tire is bad and leaks (repair). For those of you that are not familiar with this vehicle it is one mean machine. It is 6 wheel drive, with a zero turn capacity. These units are built from the factory on a skid steer chassy. They pretty much can go through anything, and float. I have had it in deep water but they are somewhat difficult to steer when floating, but with practice can be fully used. It probably tops out at around 25 to 30 MPH, and does have reverse. The ingnition and choke for the engine are on the engine itself. With a little bit of work these two things could be moved up to the drivers front, for convience. The lights do work and the switch for that is up front. There is an emergency brake up front, but it does not seem to work. These units stop on a dime, when you release the forward or reverse controls. Mechanically the unit is fully sound in as is condition and can be used today. However there are two things that could be done. The drive chains need to be adjusted. Sometimes not all the time you can hear an occasional pop when you turn the vehicle. Lastly if in deep water it does take on some water. The tub is sound and free from damage. The water is comming in from an axle shaft joint comming through the body. These units have bearings that are greased up on the shafts that go throught the tub. I do have that go with the unit a complete set of new bearings that were given to me with the unit. I also have a canvas top for the unit that I never used. Some of it looks worn with fogged windows, but I can see what looks like new windows that are in the bag with the top as well. I do not know if they are the correct ones, or the exact condition of the top as I never tried to put it on. There is on the left front corner of the upper plastic a couple of small cosmetic tear marks where the vehicle must of hit something, and in the left rear corner a couple of very small scratches. Other than those problems and imperfections the vehicle is in super clean condition. These vehicles new are thousands of dollars, and can be used all year round, and can even be used to plow snow. We originally used it up north at our cottage, but it sits more than anything else. This is why we are selling it. Last summer I replaced the battery and changed the oil/filter on it. It is pretty much ready for everyday use for somebody that needs a unit like this. I have 39 additional pictures of this vehicle that I can email somebody upon request.
